Frequently Asked Questions

Is Keystone affiliated with other certification bodies?

Keystone operates independently as a third-party certification body, and we are accredited by the same major accreditation bodies used by other leading certification organizations.

Who needs certification?

Manufacturers supplying windows, doors, insulating glass, safety glazing, roofing, and related building products often need certification to meet code, specification, and project requirements.

What is fenestration?

Fenestration refers to the design and placement of openings in a building, including windows, doors, and skylights.

I have a Keystone label and need product support. Can Keystone fix my door or window?

Keystone is not the manufacturer. We certify product performance and compliance, but product repair and replacement support must come from the original manufacturer. To identify your manufacturer, visit Homeowners Resources.

How do I find a Keystone certified product?

Keystone offers a public Certified Product Directory that is searchable by certification type, product category, and company.

My company makes windows or doors. How do I get certified?

Keystone provides certification and quality assurance services across multiple programs. For fenestration, Keystone serves as an NFRC-licensed Inspection Agency and offers ANAB- and SCC-accredited certification pathways for U.S. and Canadian markets.

Does Keystone test products in-house?

No. Keystone is not a test laboratory. We work with recognized testing and simulation laboratories, and NFRC maintains accredited lab lists for applicable programs.

What does the Keystone gold permanent label mean?

A permanent label indicates the product is certified. For NFRC, both temporary and permanent labels are required for compliant certified products.

What is the NFRC Certified Product Directory (CPD)?

The NFRC CPD is a public online database of certified windows, doors, and skylights, including verified energy performance data. You can learn more atNFRC CPD.
